Urgent request for maintenance work on US Marshals aircraft
The Federal Aviation Administration, Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Group, issued an urgent requirement on Friday to establish a contract with a qualified vendor to perform heavy maintenance inspections on aircraft used to transport prisoners. Maybe we should look the other way at the situation. Knowing that a no-bid contract was not possible, they may well have waited until the only available slot on such short notice was the vender these bureaucrats wanted to use to begin. Now, no other vender has availability on such short notice.
Spirit Airlines? Or is that cruel and unusual punishment?
Yes!!
AAR in OKC will be happy to rubber stamp the inspection for a fee.
LOL, you just don't know how true of a statement that is.... We stopped using them for Heavy Maintenance... We had a standing policy not to allow the next plane go into heavy until the first one made its first flight, once a captain called up picking up a completed and signed off a/c to state that is PFD was not installed in the a/c, another one the forward entry door was so badly out of rig they could not close the door, and the list goes on... I understand the FAA got involved with them as well. We had to ground 1/2 our fleet as they were using substandard hardware to comply with an AD on the Main Landing Gear. I think they lost their certificate for a period of time over that one, and was when we stopped using them.
They need to do the Heavy Maintenance on these planes.... I would not want these planes to crash and kill innocent people on the ground, or have a crash landing where criminals are on the loose...
