No way !! my first solo aircraft!!!!!!
1941 Piper J3C-65 Cub
Wheel landings in a Citabria. This photo brought back good memories.
Great shot. The first aircraft I ever flew was the PA-11 version, but I couldn't solo it, even though I was ready to do so. At 14 I was too young and had to have my instructor along in the back seat.
We called them A Bamboo Bomber. So many learned in that J-3 type. It is the Mother that cradled us, showed us the Stall and the dreaded spin, but also recovery, pattern flying and then out of the nest and X-Country. light signals and 20 degree crosswinds. night flight and what is thunder storm. Many of us were eager to move on and up, but the J-3 is the first step for many. My last flight was Capt of 747 Thanks to Piper a/c.
