FOLKS........the aircraft is an Alon A2 , built in 1966 .
FlightAware does not seem to have Alon in it's aircraft type , so I went with their a/c type , which I believe is part of the evolution of the Aircoupe .
GARY S......I went with your instructions which worked fine yesterday on the Shorts , Skyvan , but in vain on the Alon .
Peter Tomlinson... FA is using the ICAO type designator for aircraft type in the "photo tags" data entry process, which is ERCO in this case for the ALON A2. FA assigns just one aircraft to each type designation code as I understand. That's how you end up showing a Mooney Aircoupe title/type.
Howdy again, Peter. Another excellent pic here. Five *s and a Bravo. Also, I guess I should have included a sentence yesterday that I have occasionally not been able to find a certain aircraft on the listing. In cases such as that, I would usually just go with something close and then make a specific identification in the REMARKS section as you have done here. I suppose no list could possibly contain every a/c model. Some "extinct" airlines are also not recognized by the AIRLINE code section. Braniff is one of them. I had posted a very rare oldie pic of a BI fleetbird - it was the orange Douglas DC-8. Braniff only flew it for a few months and I was extremely fortunate to catch it at KBOS. I posted it here a little over a year ago but when I discovered that there was no code to ID Braniff as an airline, I had the photo deleted and I shared it on a private site instead. The pic was too rare (there are no other pics of that specific orange Eight on the web) to leave here on a site that does not recognize Braniff International as a former airline. The same situation exists for Northeast Airlines (the US-based one). I took a pic of a CV-990 in Northeast Airlines livery at KBOS that I won't post here because this site does not recognize the former US airline Northeast as an airline. My CV-990 pic is one of only a few that show a 990 in Northeast paint. Northeast had leased it from AA and they didn't fly it for very long, so it is a rather rare capture. I've shared it on another site instead of here. But for the most part, the aircraft model and airline code lists are up to date. I apologize for implying that you could find everything on that list. I realize now that you probably spent quite a bit of time looking, and I'm sorry you did that on my advice.
