Douglas AD Skyraider (N2AD)
A beautiful day at the 2022 Selfridge Open House & Air Show. July 10, 2022. Taken from the great vantage point on top of the Air Boss/Announcer trailer.

Douglas A-1 Skyraider, typically A-1D "Sandy"
We had - I believe - the last active squadron of "Spads" onboard CVA-67. It was one of the most versatile aircraft ever in the Navy's inventory. And yes, the AF got to use some of them too.
I see “oil canning” rear of the engine and under the canopy. If I were that old I would have skin like that too!!
Proud flier A-1!

The prop on the A-1 is colossal!
They like to call it "Beast Mode" with the fancy jets now but for the A-1 that was just another normal day at work. Awesome planes and what a Beast!
I served as a Aviation Machinist aboard CVA39 lake Champlain and CVA 11 Intrepid.
The Skyraider was reliable, strong and well engineered maintenance wise.
We had the, AD6 and AD5N. A great plane. VA85
