James this is a zeppelin. It has a rigid internal frame.

Beautiful sight to see in the sky! You will never have to rush out of the house or you'll miss seeing it ;-)

What is that screen or netting mid-ship?

we flew in the BUD blimp/airship a few years back...like over 10 and it was a different kind of flying.
nothing like a 45 degree ascent angle and fans screaming and your only moving slow like a turtle. AWESOME ride

Robin, that is the "message board" which now seems to be more of a display, comprised of thousands of LEDs. It used to be very simple scrolling messages several letters at a time and some crude graphics ability. I used to live in the South Bay (LA) and saw these all the time, I wonder what that display can do now!

Years ago used to take my now forty year old son down to the Carson Blimp-port. We would stop for doughnuts on the way, and he would sit on the grass, eat his doughnut, and was entirely enthralled. At some point he even had a ride-on Good-Year Blimp. He would pedal that thing all around the living room and den.

He still remembers going down to see the blimps. And the doughnuts.

It is a real Zeppelin NT. The lighter than air airship has a internal structur of carbon-cross-beams and aluminium longerons, indeed. And the hull has a thickness of 2 mm and is fastend to the internal structure with 4700 tie raps. So lift come from the internal helium and the all the forces (drag, steering, load) go directly into the internal structure. We call it a semi-rigid airship.
And defninitely it is NO blimp.
