I have a love hate with this aircraft. I love to look at them and watch them fly, but if they are up in the are something is burning and that's never a good thing.

I lived about 2km from the Canadair plant when I was a kid. The predecessor to the CL415, the CL215, used to fly over my house on a regular basis. Amazing aircraft.

Sadly, the '415' has been out of production for some time now. Bombardier has sold the manufacturing rights to another Canadian company, which has announced plans for an improved version, the 515, to hopefully begin production soon. As climate change creats hotter summers and prolonged forest fire events around the world, this aircraft will likely become an increasingly valuable asset.
