Magic!
So fine! Any idea where it’s home airport is?
Mark, it's based at Planes of Fame Museum here in Chino, CA. It makes an incredibly odd sound – more high-pitched and even more tinnitus-inducing than most pusher-propeller aircraft. So, combine that with its 'War of the Worlds' look, and it's no surprise that it's one of few vintage aircraft that makes even pre-teen kids shut up and watch it at the Planes of Fame Airshow each year.
I can only imagine how it must have been to see/hear its 172-ft span 4-engined brethren, the YB-35/XB-49 big brothers. Jack Northrop was way ahead of his time.
