SPANISH FORT, Ala. -- According to authorities, a small airplane made an emergency landing in a field behind Bass Pro Shops in Spanish Fort late this morning.
The landing was most likely due to engine problems, said Spanish Fort police Sgt. Steve McGough. No one was injured, he said.
The control tower at Brookley Field in Mobile said the plane, described as a small Cessna, was on radar for about 200 yards before disappearing, according to police scanner traffic.
Spanish Fort Police Department is handling the investigation, and will be unable to further comment untill the Federal Aviation Administration arrives on the scene, McGough said.
