Chinese jets intercept US spy plane over South China Sea
Two Chinese fighters have carried out an "unsafe" intercept of a US military aircraft over the South China Sea, the Pentagon says. The incident happened in international airspace on 17 May as the US maritime reconnaissance aircraft carried out a routine patrol in the area, it added. (www.bbc.com) More...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Any interception is "Unsafe" by US military standards.
Funny that you never hear of Chinese jets intercepting U.S fighter jets, it's always unarmed patrol types.
The article doesn't mention U.S. fighter jets, but maritime reconnaissance aircraft. Probably a P-8 or P-3.
By saying unsafe I'd figure they approached with targeting radar locked on playing like the Russians would with P3's.
The real question should be where the fighters came from.
Is China now militarizing there man made islands?

The countries in that region have been at each other over those islands for many decades. There is a bunch of oil and natural gas out there, that is what this is all about.
and fish, I might add--a good tenth of the planet's stocks are thereabouts
the solution, of course, is for the US/Vietnam to build islands of its own! we got more ships than the PRC
