it's the same way at business/finance web forums. you have to know which country is shia and which is sunni. so intertwined is the petrodollar in international markets. you will also get this type of commenting as the boeing kerfuffle over aircraft sold to iran under sanctions continues.
As a Westerner I'm sure that I will never understand all the subtleties and intrigues between the various factions of the Islamic world. Like other religions, it often seems so petty and childish.
Which is terrorism - petty or childish? Which other religions are similarly "petty" and "childish?"
To varying degrees? Almost every religion is petty and childish, as well as encouraging and enabling of terrorist attacks.
I would ask you: Which religion HASN'T been responsible for terrorist attacks or other atrocities like you speak of? Let's just restrict it to the last 50 years to make it a little easier for you. :)

Forced female genital mutilation. Beheading family members. Executing gays (by throwing them off rooftops!) simply for being gay. So "petty and childish," huh?
