NASA is targeting no earlier than April 8 for the Ingenuity Mars Helicopter to make the first attempt at powered, controlled flight of an aircraft on another planet. (dcnewsroom.blogspot.com) More...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
I just read that there is a small swatch of fabric from the original Wright Brother's airplane on the drone.
They also took one to the moon and one on the perseverance the rover.
I just wish them luck!
If it starts collecting dust on the counter rotating props it can still develop unbalanced rotation. That's about all I can see going wrong. Kind of what having it sit around on the surface could promote.
Or it might just smother the engine and make it unusable. Like when a plane flies through the volcanic ash cloud or a car drives into a massive puddle
Why don't they call it a Drone instead of a Helicopter? They blades will need to be very large to get a grip in the low gas atmosphere!
We weren't happy just polluting Earth?
