Out west with all of the wild fires going on. This pilot has got some mad skills! Either that or he is crazy. (www.liveleak.com) 기타...

awesome skills on that guy. he can save my house anytime.

I doubt the homeowner would be complaining in any language, the fire being just downhill from the house.
PhotoFinish
The poster added a sensationalistic false complaint to stir up interest in the clip.

Any homeowner would be glad to have a pilot with those skills putting out a fire that was so close to their house with their own pool water (which is much cheaper to replace than the entire structure).

We folks out west (America that is) are a little sensitive about the subject,

The poster hasn't apparently been watching them at work- just another hero's day at the office.

There are old pilots, and there are bold pilots, also there are bad-ass pilots overflowing with talent...I think that's how that saying goes...

I heard about a nuts pilot who was a drunk and did not care about life....then again he was the first to break the sound barrier and got to go to space...
EvacGuy
uh, Yeager was sober when he exceeded the sound barrier and he was never an astronaut. Although he did hold several powered aircraft altitude records.
fresnosmooth
He even has a liquor named after him. So smooth...

Hah....bum deal for Yeager.

Now, some levity. Speaking of drinks named after someone, heard of the Sully Vodka Cocktail?

Two shots of Grey Goose, and a splash of water....(rimshot, please).
fresnosmooth
Damn you Tim! I just pisd my pants laughing.

Ermmmm...the original "saying" goes (but I think you know this already):

"There are old pilots, and there are bold pilots....but, there are no old bold pilots."

Your adaptation is clever, though.

By "out west", you mean Portugal, right? Cause, that is where this was filmed....
PhotoFinish
Must've meant western Europe.

Nah.....just keep going West.....you will eventually get there.

If that was Portugal I'm surprised anyone was doing anything to fight the fire. We were there in 2010 and the entire northern part of the country was burning up. We did not see any fire fighting action whatsoever. Here s video of one fire: https://vimeo.com/14494207

That seems like predicting trends on a sample size of 1. It doesn't look like much could be done to get a handle on that one at mid-slope. Try the videos on this link to see what is needed in that kind of terrain.

What a shock to find a helicopter taking water from a pool

Here is an even more amazing clip of the same pilot. Amazing footage as the fire moves beyond the tree line to the dry grass by the houses and he becomes the only thing standing in the way of it.

Note the tail rotor distance to the ground a couple of times.

That looks even more dangerous than the main mount landings we used to do in Phrogs (Chinooks still can though). Rotorheads do have to have balls of steel to do some of the things they can do.

This was an example of clicking on what seemed an intriguing clip, and them making me Laugh Out Loud!! Thank you!! (I'm still chuckling...)

Maybe it's my weird sense of humor.

Those fire crews have incredible skills and nerves of steel. Chances are there were some guys on the ground who needed help right then, so that pilot was looking for anything he could use to knock down the fire and keep the ground crews safe.
Fourpawphoto
Crazy flying skills, i say let him have the water if he can actually get the helicopter to the pool.

Yea it's not California

joel wiley 2
Yeah, if it was there would be some idiot out poolside snapping pics.
pilot62
And the pool owner would sue, the pilot would be fined, and the fire would rage on ! if this was in America
Scrape
Scrape 2
Wow, thats dangerous! The rotor wash bouncing off that wall uphill of the pool could cause the rotor to stall out and lose lift, and bye-bye helo! Thats what happened to the stealth blackhawk that delivered the troops to get OBL in pakistan. Still, great flying.

Here's a different perspective from the same helicopter. Found this on the guy's YouTube channel. Notice the tail clearance. Insane piloting indeed.
