AirAsia Co-Pilot Was at Helm Before Crash

제출됨

Airbus planes have computerized protection systems designed to avoid an aerodynamic stall, a condition in which an aircraft’s wings lose lift because forward speed is too low or the wings are pointing upward too steeply. But under extreme circumstances, such as multiple failures or disconnection of redundant flight-control computers, the stall-protection system becomes inoperative. That is apparently what happened to Flight 8501, though questions remain about the primary and contributing… (www.wsj.com) 기타...

I'm thinking that they entered severe turbulence and the FO turned tried to turn off the altitude hold, but he turned off the entire autopilot by mistake. You always turn off altitude hold when you hit severe updrafts, so the aircraft won't exceed maximum allowed speed. But in the heat of the moment, it's possible that he got confused. With the autopilot turned off and in a violent updraft, it would be easy to lose control and stall the aircraft when flying manually at high altitude.

I don't think FO flying is a big deal. I think a bad updraft got them, they stalled, couldn't recover, and got smacked down.

Looking at that rate of ascent, 10800FPM, climbing 32 up to 37+ in 20 seconds....i'd agree...flew into a cell and went for a bad ride, then hitting the other side of it and descending almost as fast.

There is a link below that about the CVR and is the 1st thing I've seen that says the Captain took back control, as he should have, but then, that is not near as sensational as a co pilot flying.

Investigator: AirAsia plane wobbled, climbed and triggered stall warning

Quite the climb. Sorry if this is a duplicate, I didn't see it anywhere.
