Bombardier's history is fascinating ("About Us") - I had no idea they started out as the inventor and manufacturer of snowmobiles.

I knew them for snowmobiles and their wave runner / jet ski toys long before I ever knew they built aircraft... Of course, I was a kid and wasn't keeping up with this industry back then, either. :)

A bit offtopic, but do you know how did the luxurious and expensive sportscar make Lamborghini start? :)

Lamborghini Trattori S.p.A., originally produced tractors from surplus military hardware.

Impressive considering the amount of fuel to be carried and the departure procedure and climb gradient out of Aspen. To achieve both and set a new world record for speed says a lot about the airplane.

The Bombardier website says the aircraft was flying at Mach 0.89. At this speed it would be limited to FL 350. For the mentioned trip from Aspen to London probably the most efficient flight levels are located from FL 410 up to FL 470 giving a speed limit between M 0.88 and M 0.86. (Of course the most economic flight level depends also on the wind component at the different levels.) However, isn't the Gulfstream "G650" the fastest business jet? Or at the same speed much more fuel efficient than the "Global"?
