It's about as close to military aviation as the movie "Airplane" is to commercial aviation but it is all about the characters and story line. Good and evil, tragedy and triumph, love and hate, overcoming adversity, and doing it your way is the American story. I go to see maybe one movie every few years. This will be the one.

Aw, but it's fun to watch. And remember the good ol' days of the Tailhook Conventions or carrier quals in the MAG-13 grass shack at Chu Lai. Time well spent.

Top Gun was the movie that got me into aviation, the reason I wanted to be a fighter pilot growing up until life had other plans for me. That's what it's all about. Just enjoy it for what it is: a movie.

I think I will spend some Christmas money on Richard Jewll, at least he was wronged by a corrupt system made up of who gets a so-called scoop first in this world only to vindicated years later.
