Helicopter Pilot Killed at Pennsylvania Fair
An experienced helicopter pilot with a military background walked into the spinning blades while talking to his relief pilot - "The fair's superintendent of police and parking says the helicopter was refueling when Enlow went back to speak to the pilot who relieved him. Bill Barratt says Enlow's hat blew off his head and he was struck by the rotor when he reached for it." (www.katu.com) 기타...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Update: Man died. And go figure....He was one of the pilots with 50 years of flying experience. http://wnep.com/2013/09/27/man-hospitalized-after-being-hit-by-helicopter-blade/
Had some friends in the Nam get it with blade strikes. They were pilots too. A Huey blade can dip to 4'. If you're not a midget better stay low. Tail rotors will get you too.
Looked like it was heading that way after yesterday's squawk. Rotor blade to the head would not normally be a survivable injury.
Condolences to the pilot's family.
Condolences to the pilot's family.
Anyone know if it was the main rotor or the tail rotor?
I did not know there was a duplicate squawk, my apologies for the duplicate. But you're right, how he managed to make it to the hospital alive is beyond my understanding. Condolences to family and crew members.
What I don't get is if the aircraft was refueling... Then why were the blades spinning???
