Yes, Mr. Johnson - "it isn't exactly the case". Eastwood does great acting and makes great movies. As a movie-maker, he needs to sell tickets, and knows what it takes to do that. Of course the first few minutes of the movie, involving what really happened in the real world of aviation, are correct.

Equally obvious is the utter nonsense that followed. My best guess, since Eastwood is a pilot himself - perhaps he ran afoul of the system, and got spanked.

I can tell you from personal experience, it is POSSIBLE for an airman to have a bad time with the FAA / NTSB.

As I noted elsewhere, I have a wee bit of experience in such things, both as an attorney representing others, and, in two cases, as a "victim" myself.

Here's the problem. SOME (thank heaven, not all) NTSB Administrative Hearing Officers ( Judges ) and SOME FAA trial attorneys, are not pilots, and could care less about aviation (at best) ( some are even hostile to us ). Most are legit and actually care about aviation safety matters, not looking to "settle scores" with their resentment of real aviation.

On the operational level - my experience is that 99% are pilots themselves, and sincerely interested in helping out.

We don't know why Eastwood's movie went off on a tangent, making up utter nonsense about the process. Fact is, he did.

I "feel" for the 99% of FAA/NTSB operational-level folks, who were "set up" in this movie to give the non-aviation public something to boo.

Don't let it bother you - its modern journalism...it is what it is.

Of course we should all go see the movie ( if nothing else....for the first 6 minutes)...
as for the rest of it...ITS JUST A DAMN MOVIE...ENTERTAINMENT ....!

( I see Mr. Baldwin has appointed himself "head censor". Figures ) (whatever you do, don't disagree with our "head censor" or his little band of "flier-followers".....!)
