Singapore Airlines A350-900ULR won’t have any economy seats.

제출됨

Singapore Airlines’ new Airbus A350-900ULR will sport a two-class configuration of business and premium economy, without any economy seats. Both seats will adopt next-generation versions of SQ's current designs, including the new business class set to debut on the airline's factory-fresh Airbus A380 superjumbos arriving from October 2017 (alongside all-new A380 first class suites). used to fly the Houston Express to Luanda, Angola for 6 years, 15 hours in Business Class, every 28 days, even in Business every thing starts to hurt after 15 hours. I am sure I heard on the news United is going to fly the same route, with a normal seat figuration , can you imagine 16 hours of abuse in a 4-4-4 :-) with 200 sheep in the back.

Premium economy is what the seating pitch use to be back before the airlines decided to turn economy into a sardine can. It was suppose to lower the price per seat though as we all know it in essence did not. I applaud Singapore for what they are doing. Hopefully other airlines will do the same and charge reasonable price for a seat including 2 bags and a meal or snack on all flights. This nickel and diming has to stop. Stop the nickel and diming give the passenger a comfortable seat and the term "Air Rage" will be history.

I think has to do with fuel. Less pax means more fuel and longer range. Just because this is an Ultra Long Range version does not mean it can do that with the usual 300+ pax and their luggage. And all the extra toilets, galleys, food carts, etc etc.

What will a round trip Venice Italy to Tullamarine cost?

Probably has more to do with extending the airplane's range than load factor. Fewer seats means lighter airplane leading to more Mike's per gallon.

Didn't Singapore do this for a while with an A340? Maybe the combination of recovering economies and newer/more efficient twin engine will make it successful again.

I don't blame them. I would hate to sit in a traditional economy configuration for 15 hrs +. I believe the old Newark-Singapore route had 100 business class seats only on a A340-500. My assumption is this may eventually re-open that route?
