Take an Interactive 360-Degree Tour of a Cockpit During Takeoff

제출됨

Not counting the fictional ones we see in movies and on TV, plane cockpits are mysterious spaces reserved for a very exclusive club. Passengers can usually sneak a quick peek at the controls during boarding, but during flights, the doors are sealed—meaning takeoff and landing procedures remain a secret to even the most frequent fliers. Not anymore, thanks to the Swiss website Blick, which recently posted an interactive video that allows viewers to turn the camera 360 degrees inside of an Airbus… (www.youtube.com) 기타...

Another non-aviation journalist amazed by all the guages, switches and dials (ok, glass screens and multi-function joysticks) that make an airplane fly. He likely has no idea about aerodynamics and what makes an airplane stay in the air...must be magic!

Mr. Hartman - as well as a low hour private pilot can, I think I understand what you are saying. If nothing else - misreported aviation drives me crazy. If I may respectfully make three points that I think you will appreciate. First, it is our responsibility (granted an exhaustive one)as pilots to do our best to correct the fools as well as encourage the wonder of those who really do love flight. Second, I pray that experienced pilots such as yourself do not abandon this site because I for one have learned a great deal from the better discourses that are found here and there on FlightAware.com. Lastly, one thing I hope we still have in common is the appreciation of the sometimes subtle but always impressive differences between "driving" and "flying", both literally and figuratively. Sometimes when I am driving home from work I want to just pull back on the steering wheel and get the heck off of the ground! My regards to you, sir.

Peter agreed. It never ceases to amaze me how many non-avaiation journalists get all little-girl-giggly anytime they stumble upon the chance to cover an aviation related story...it is all magic to most of them. BTW, my medical pushed me out of cockpit some time ago and I am in my 'fallback' job as an Operations Engineer for a major aviation systems supplier. So I now spend my days supporting the guys and gals in the pointy-end and dream about the good-old days. Keep em' flying!

I will have to look into it, at least I can back in a GA cockpit if nothing else.

Copy that! I noticed several years ago I had forgotten how to listen. It was one of the best skills I had when I was younger. I'm working on relearning that precious skill.
