F-14 Explodes Over USS John Paul Jones

On September 20th, 1995, an F-14A Tomcat was involved in a spectacular explosion in the vicinity of John Paul Jones. A high speed fly-by, breaking the sound barrier as the plane passed the ship, was performed, during which the engine exploded (due to "compression failure").
