Big Growth for DFW & DENVER Airports
Dallas-Fort Worth and Denver are two of the biggest hub airports in the U.S. In fact, last year, they were the second and third busiest after Atlanta. (airlineweekly.com) More...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
They also seem to have the most weather delays and cancellations! More growth just makes it all worse! Use bigger airplanes instead.
Flight delay because of weather in DFW. Look to see weather from DFW to destination and all OK. Use FlightAware app and check where my plane is coming from - see no bad weather from there to DFW. I can only guess it is from a weather delay from maybe 12-15 hours ago beyond what I can check. Of course, now always take 1st flight out even if means a very long layover time - just so can have back up plan for out bound flight and connecting flight if there is one.
DFW has the third highest percentage of delays among US airports, but DEN doesn't even make the top ten.
Denver is an absolute shit-stain when it comes to delays and cancellations. The slightest snow or rain causes a stop. The latest excuse I had this summer was microbursts. This airport must be in the worst location in the US.
Well - the topography immediately to the west is certainly contributory - the winds and currents coming out of the mountains are certainly a mess. And those mountains contain a dozen of the best ski resorts in the US if not the world - can't do that without some serious winter activity.
