Hawker 800 Crash after Interception from Colombia Air Force

제출됨

An unidentified Hawker 800 jet crashed into the waters off Puerto Colombia, Colombia after being intercepted by a Colombian Air Force plane after illegally flying into Colombian airspace. The aircraft departed from Venezuela and was bound for Central America. Video footage released by the Colombian Air Force show the Hawker's nr.2 engine on fire as it descended over sea. The aircraft impacted the water and broke up. At the scene of the crash a still undetermined number of packages were… (www.aviation-safety.net) 기타...

Funny how I just got my scuba gear out for servicing after retiring. Would like a 10 digit MGRS for the location. Mucho dinaro me amigo. See I could talk Spanish after scooping a bunch of that cash. Drugs go north, cash goes south me amigo's :).

Me thinks you are probably the non existent prize winner on this one.

It doesn't look like he even tried to flare as he hit the water.

And mike SUT makes a good point, it doesn't really look like #2 is on fire, the IR signature looks too regular and the engine isn't shedding any parts, while #1 is not giving off any heat.

Well, since there are no single pilot Happy Hawkers, either somebody is missing or this flight didn't start as an ICAO legal flight and the cargo was some sort of (drugs) contraband. Hawker was probably stolen, I'd guess. Although an old 800 is pretty cheap these days. Not my idea of the way to retire.

"...this flight didn't start as an ICAO legal flight and the cargo was some sort of (drugs) contraband"

Ya think? What was your first clue?
bentwing60
The point was mostly about the single pilot BOZO, the rest was pretty much sarcasm.

80 kilos of product profit vs 80 kilos of salary overhead and a relaxed attitude toward regulatory compliance? No brainer.
bentwing60
"relaxed attitude toward regulatory compliance" is a really good way to describe cartel respect for the law.

I never saw where it said the flight started out illegally... I only saw where it entered Colombian airspace illegally.

From time to time the Venezuelan Air Force shoots down alleged drug aircraft and splashes the heriocs in the press to gain points but the DEA, FBI et all know exactly what is going on.

There was an animated argument between the two air forces (Venezuela's and Colombia's as to where the aircraft took off from prVor to the shot down. Venezuela says it departed from a Colombian airport however the venezuelan´s recanted the following day saying that the plane had landed in the city of Apure (Venezuela) in from some place Central America (México was suggested too) and departed without any cleareance or warning on a NNW heading. The argumented continued the followingoday when Colombia refuted Venezuela's claim that its air forcé shot it down whereas Colombia says that it was its air forcé that deserves the credit. The whole episode and the reverberations had a special meaning for the U.S. Government accused Venezuela VP Gen. diosdado Cabello and other top military officers to profit from drug money trafficking by allowing free passage to scores of small aircraft out of tis airports and on to Mexico and thence the U.S.

Maybe your last sentence explains why this particular incident reached the general public.
trafficdodger
Why all the speculation about drugs. The accompanying Criminal Occurrence report clearly says 1.2 tons of drugs recovered and 4 bodies?
joelwiley
The initial report last week had 1 body and did not speculate on the contents of the floating packages. That may be why.
khaiduk
The floating debris looks very small and identical.

The link says it shows the #2 engine on fire.....since it is an IR video, I think from my former Navy experience with IR, it shows the # 2 working fine...the #1 looks stone cold dead with no heat signature. Regardless, there is a ton on floating packages on the surface after the crash .....probably no doubt as to what they are.
crayanderson
"Probably no doubt" .... say what?

:-) Didn't want to besmirch the pilots reputation by saying he was a fast flying drug runner. Besides, they could be little boxes of cereal that he took from the breakfast bar of the hotel where he stayed. Raisin Bran, Lucky Charms, Corn Flakes.....I used to fly with a Captain who took a light bulb or a roll of toilet paper from his hotel room so he wouldn't have to buy as much for his house. Naturally, the cereal thing is a joke, they could have been soap bars. :-)
kaisermon
99 and 44 one hundredths percent pure, as the old Ivory Soap ad used to say. I'm here all week. :-)
crayanderson
Yeah. Now I see. :-)

IN TIME, JUST FEEL SORRY FOR THE JET, IT WAS A HAWKER 800...A NICE ONE...
BRAZIL ON LINE.

DRUGS ARE ACTUALLY THE BIGGEST DISGRACE IN METRO AND MEDDIUM URBAN AREAS IN BRAZIL, I GUESS WORLDWIDE. MANY INOCENT LIVES HAD BEING TAKEN AWAY FROM THEIR FAMILIES AS IT DRIVES OUT REASON OF THE MISERABLE USERS, WHO SHOULD BE IN JAIL AS WELL. THEY DO NOT MEASURE TO KILL AND TO DIE FOR DRUG. DIRTY MONEY...NOT WORTH IT. CONGRATS TO THE COLOMBIAN AIR FORCES ANYHOW FOR FIGHTING THAT TERRIBLE HUMAN PLAGUE THAT THREATENS THE WORLD WITH INNOCENT BLOOD.BRAZIL ON LINE.
