The Lufthansa folks played this strike game a couple years ago, but I believe it was the pilots then. Passed thru FRA enroute Warsaw in February about two days before they were to strike. The airport authority had already (and wisely) lined the corridors with literally hundreds upon hundreds of folding cots to accommodate the tsunami of about-to-be-held-hostage passengers. Thankfully it was all over by the time I came back thru a week later. Hope FRA kept those cots handy.
Factoid: I remember a briefing where we were told that a cat shot equated to us pulling 5-7 "transverse" G's (through the chest)for that couple of seconds it took to throw you off the pointy end.
With a little tightening, these would make great a great series of articles for in-flight magazines or posting on airline websites.
Have always wondered why the airlines don't put more of this kind of "here's how it works" info on their sites. The more the flying public understands about what's happening in the front of the bus, the more likely they will be to accept it when they occasionally get stuck in the "penalty box" waiting for a gate.
Factoid: I was told when I went through it that the Navy added the helo dunker to the Dilbert Dunker ejection training because there had been instances where the SAR helo had gone down on the way back to the ship. That's when they realized that everyone aboard had been trained on helo egress procedures-- except the poor schmuck who'd just been rescued.
