Yes, great photo. Where is PO8? Doesn't come up in my data.

It's not the 717's fault but the aircraft is clearly involved in "identity theft". Why Boeing decided to put "717" on the MD-95 when it had already assigned that model number to the Air Force's C-135 is almost criminal. It is hard enough to know all the models without causing confusion.

Very confusing commentary. AF1 is not a specific aircraft. It is a radio call sign used by an aircraft carrying the President, ANY AIRCRAFT. AF2 is the radio call sign used by an aircraft carrying the V.P., ANY AIRCRAFT.

You have to wonder how old this pic is. The registration was canceled some time ago. But wait...it's Alaska where the main rule is: There are no rules.

Hmmm...valid N number, I checked, and registered to a party in the U.K. Must be a story there.

Thanks to all who are correcting the type designation. Yes, a PB4Y-2 as Robert remarks. Although my service was USAF, this USN plane has always been viewed by me as much prettier than the B-24. Have seen it fly many times in fire zones.

Today's mystery plane appears to be a Dornier 328, lower right corner.

The B-36 was a graceful thing to see in the sky, but yes, they mostly flew at night. There were many unusual things about this aircraft but to me the most unusual was it's sound. It is difficult to explain but once you heard one, you never forgot it.

Yes Andrew, plus the upper cabin length indicates that as well.

Roland,
It is not a float plane. No floats. It is a seaplane or flying boat.
