I'd just like to say.....
That the idea that we should study pilot reaction times as 'it may take up to 7 seconds' for pilots to react to critical emergencies is genius.
I think all takeoff emergencies (v1/v2 cuts) should be based on 7 second (MINIMUM) pilot reaction time.
That will make aviation MUCH safer. (sic)
Also, beloved Aeroflot has an amazing safety record (also sic). This is clearly due to a lack of Capitalism.
You're correct. My Apologies....
I was referencing the comments below concerning treatment of the crew. The PRC is less respectful--as are many other countries--when it comes to treatment and legal status of aircrew after an incident/accident. l
Funny....
When American aircrews are involved in an aircraft accident/incident in China, they are arrested--yes, arrested--after the incident.
Don't forget: there is a tunnel just beyond the incident area. Had the aircraft struck that area.....well, it might have been a good deal worse.
I'm glad that no-one was injured in the making of this (future) training video.
Yes, it seems like everybody's memory is failing: The F-111 was a great example of a committee aircraft that was a disaster. How many F-111 cat-shots have you seen? The F-4, while a great aircraft, suffered from too many compromises as well (as a joint service aircraft) "Where is the gun?..."
I love this statement "With its sensor technology, 25mm gun and maneuverability, there is little question about whether the F-35 could succeed with these kinds of missions."
The answer is clear: there is little question about using the F35 as primary CAS, it will be a disaster and highly overpriced for the mission.
IMHO: An MC-130 with mini JDAMs (LSDB?) and 2 super Tucanos could do the work of a squadron of F35s, have better sortie rates and remain over target far longer. Add 1 F22 (or F15 etc..) to provide air cover for the package.... That's what I call CAS. Placing a super-technology 140 MILLION dollar fighter on a CAS mission in the low-altitude environment.... well, that's
You know, after 12+ hours in the cockpit, at night, over water etc.... Things can seem very funny. At the time.
They seem a lot less funny now though.... ;]
I believe that was "United Express" not United. The person in the right seat might have been alert or not. He also might be 12 years old and have 150 hours of Cessna time the way things are going. ok, so I'm joking about the 12 years old part....
