She even has the classic Fokker logo on her tail speed brake, just visible below the rudder. In her predecessor the F28 (approx 5 feet shorter and with RR Spey turbofans instead of RR Tays) we needed to deploy the speed brake on final approach at very light landing weights (less than 53,000 pounds).

Good point Dave! By coincidence, I have just been looking through a dusty volume from the late 1960's on ADF theory. I probably once knew but had sadly long since forgotten, that with the very early DF direction finding systems (think Douglas DC2's), it was necessary to turn the aircraft onto various different headings to check the bearing to/from a station, so as to work out your position. But this function was later able to be incorporated into the unit, hence the "A" for automatic in "ADF".

Can't tell you how much I appreciate this beautiful shot Gary. So that peak in WC-130J 97-5305's two o'clock from the top of her fin is??

A classic G2 with twin low bypass ratio RR Spey turbofans, except for her modified nose and under wing mounts.

A massively capable CV580 airframe with a Turbo Commander 690 parked out in her relative ten o'clock position...

I just wish my seniority number was a little higher way back in 1982 to get a slot onto our twelve sexy DC9 series 30's as co-pilot.

Howdy Gary! Thanks for that info re the two Navy a/c. Yep, we have just increased our order for the P8A from twelve, now going up to fourteen aircraft. They will be based at Edinburgh AFB, which is just a bit to the north of Adelaide in South Australia. Kind of like our equivalent of Omaha Nebraska. Centrally located and not vulnerable to any surprise attack from the ocean!

Nice shot of a stretched F28 series 4000 with twin RR Spey turbofans.

Hi Gary! This is a great shot. Just out of curiosity, what were the Navy a/c that arrived? Looks like very snowy weather in the background!

Hard to believe now that there was more than a decade between the advent of the B767 and the arrival of the A330, like this Delta example.
