Two things which I found interesting about this: 1 - the boom was kept to one side to get around the cockpit 2 - hearing the switch being thrown for the light at the end of the boom I am not saying any of this is unusual. I, as a novice, enjoy learning about this stuff.

Good to see video without music. Refueling scenes are fantastic. At 4:10 or so, great to see the pilot's eyes and see where he's looking as he goes through maneuvers.

Just behind the cockpit, a little tower can be seen. This retracts after takeoff. What is it?

My understanding, after reading about a similar event: when emergency crews are dealing with an emergency, the airport is closed because said crews are not available should another emergency arise.

From the article: "The aircraft was parked on a remote parking stand and there were no passengers on board. Arrivals and departures were temporarily suspended while airport fire crews attended to this incident. "This is a standard procedure if fire crews are occupied with an incident."
