Not sure about racing, but was told they had a horizontal prop brake installed and could belly land with little damage if done carefully.

Great photo of a true high-flyer!

If it's not this one, there's one in nearly identical livery at RQO that flies over most days. Always try to rush outside to hear it's beautiful purr. Story goes that it's a single-handed restoration by the owner.

Especially like that you caught the prop at horizontal. Beautiful shot!

Once heard someone report that they were at 78,000 on my scanner; didn't think to much about it until I was driving to work. Then I realized, "Wait a minute! Nobody flies that high; nobody needs to." Started researching what could even achieve that and found NAS927 and NAS928; been a fan ever since.

How appropriate that your photo revival tips are demonstrated with revival aircraft; that's what the R stands for, right? I've got quite a few aged brown pics of Charleston AFS, ME, from the mid-seventies that deserve to live another day. I'll give it a try. Much thanks!

I suspect a nicely-timed ground burst designed to set a carbon ring adrift to be pierced by one of the Tiger Airshows kittens?

From Wikipedia: The rollout of the Yukon was a near-disaster when the prototype could not be pushed out of the hangar since the tail was unable to clear the hangar doors. During test flights, many problems were encountered from complete electrical failure to engines shaking loose and almost falling off. Rolls-Royce had problems delivering engines, resulting in the sarcastically-named "Yukon gliders" being parked outside Canadair as late as 1961.
