Wonder what the ATC communications went like. ATC: SWA4013 where are thou? SWA4013: We are on the ground. Where art thou? SWA4013: Oh no, did we just do the same thing as the 747 Dreamlifter that we joked about last month. SAW4013: #%$$$^%$^$% We are so $%$#%#$%. We will be the butt of all jokes from now on.

I realize they have the 739R orders but their average aircraft age is around 17 years and continue to have one of the oldest fleets (try finding airlines with oldest fleets). They continue to use older MD-80s and 757s (which is being refurbished) which are more than 20 years old already.

Completely agree. I'm 6'2 and travelling in coach for 5 hrs coast to coast is a nightmare already. With an even "slimmer" seat as they put it will be an even worse nightmare.

I dont understand why Delta chooses to update interiors of older planes instead of getting newer fuel efficient aircraft. Delta seems to be only legacy carrier who does not get newer aircraft. Even United & American have invested in lots of newer aircraft orders.

http://www.sqtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13892 A forum with some interesting pics of the inside, the door and even the outside after the aircraft landed. Looks like complete door failure. Perhaps all you aircraft experts can add more details.

Have travelled by both Singapore and Emirates recently, Singapore service is hands down way better than Emirates. The staff just raise the barrier with each travel. Emirates planes are newer with better in flight entertainment but staff is a hit or miss. some are nice while some are downright rude. Airport wise Singapore airport is the gold standard for airports. You are blown away each time you land there. Dubai airport is crowded especially around the duty free shopping areas.

Sure, if this thread is still active by that time (which would make it the longest active flightaware thread). From my past experience on the same flight with 77W, it was a brand new aircraft (around 6 months old) and it was spectacular. The cabin crew were a bit stiff (but nothing new as compared to other airlines). There are TONS of options for movies, TV shows etc. Still as the article mentions "bum-numbing" 16 hrs but I have had worst experiences on shorter flights.

I will be taking this flight in May next year. I have travelled previously on the same flight which used to be a Boeing 777-300ER (was just an awesome aircraft). Will be interesting to see the A380 for the first time.
