Air NZ to phase out last two 737'S by September

Air NZ CEO Chris Luxton has said the last remaining two Boeing 737-319's will be retired from the fleet by the end of September 2015. This is due to the increasing economical A320's and the new A320 neo jet that will come into the fleet over the next year. A anz spokesman for the airline sales and disposals of aircraft have confirmed that the last remaining Boeing 747-475 ZK-SUH which was stored at Victorville KVCV and was destine to be scrapped has being brought or sold to GE (General Electric) as a suitable replacement fuel test bed jet. The deal was sealed for a price of only 1.5mil with parts. The other Boeing 747-419 ZK-NBV former lord of the rings jet was sold off to a buyer of Saudi Arabia which has a new life. The CEO Allan Joyce has announced that Brisbane or YBBN/BNE will replace the Boeing 747-438's currently servicing YBBN/KLAX as QFA15, QFA16 as early as next year. This means no more Jumbo's will service this route by the big Roo as they will head to the desert floors slowly. The new Boeing 787-938's will replace them. Consideration using the big A388'S or A330'S was not a good option for Qantas. Qantas CEO Allan Joyce has come out saying the remaining Boeing 747-438 fleet will be replaced by the new Boeing 787-938 aircraft as early as 2017. Qantas plans to maintain its Boeing 747-400/400ER fleet at 11 aircraft for the period ahead to take advantage of the growing demand for international air travel and lower fuel prices, as the airline group reported a record profit in the first half of 2015/16. Statutory Net profit after tax for the six months to December 31 2015 was $688 million, a more than three-fold improvement from the $203 million in the prior corresponding half. A bad smell on a plane that prompted a pilot to make a request for emergency services to be ready at Melbourne airport is being investigated by safety officers. Tigerair flight 511 from Brisbane to Melbourne touched down just after 10am on Tuesday after the pilot notified ground control of an emergency when an "unusual odour" was detected in the cockpit and cabin. The airline profited $921 million before tax after it predicted in December it would reach a half year before tax profit between $875 million and $925 million. It credits the results on its improving domestic and international markets.
