Thanks for the FlightAware link. Daniel, what do you suppose the course deviation was halfway into the flight? I wasn't aware they did this enroute. I fly a CJ3 into KASE regularly and watch the tailwinds closely. Too high for my aircraft and I divert...period.

I must admit I've been 50% guilty of the same thing. I've lined up on final but realized my mistake before touchdown. And yes, I sheepishly looked around to see if anybody saw the mistake in progress. But all this was in a 172, not a Dreamlifter. Big difference.........BIG DIFFERENCE.............same mistake.

Wow. You guys (and gals) are good. Congrats on a job well done. From all angles and from both aircraft it was a huge undertaking that with careful and complete planning came together perfectly. As a corporate pilot of a CJ3 I deal with KLAS and McCarren ATC frequently also. They are very professional and take pride in their work keeping us safe. Thanks to McCarren ATC for coordinating this photo shoot opportunity. Thank you Bruce for the additional information posted. Having a former USAF Thunderbird to work out the formation details was a great idea. And as always, Jessica, you make it look soooo easy, even when it is not. My ONLY regret is that I wasn't in either aircraft to witness this as it happened. I know it had to be a great feeling. Blue Skies ALL. !!

I would think that with hundreds of people involved in this exercise that one or more would have said something like......."it IS the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, do you think this is proper?" Live and learn I suppose.

Great Video Guido. I fly a CJ3 as pilot with a FO and it can get very busy at times.......especially in class B around NYC and ATL and others. The need for crosschecks and keeping all info current on each panel is even more important single pilot. And yes, I didn't hear a taxi clearance for the geese either. Must have been student pilots eager to get airborne. Very impressive video indeed. Thanks. I know it wasn't as easy as it looked. Blue Skies and Calm Winds my Friend.

Bravo El Al. Well done.

I agree. It looks like they went missed or maybe had a windshear alert. I've been into B-ham and there is a black hole effect at that end of the runway. Scary stuff.

As a senior pilot myself I would have done the same thing. It is company policy as well as a FAA mandate. Follow the rules or get off. Rules such as these can be 'bent' but not broken. Good call AirTran-Southwest.
