Shareholders were happy for the last many years that the Board of Directors did not spend the money required to give them a computer system they needed. It was good enough! The shareholders should sue themselves for placing accountants on the board. For electing board members that wanted quarterly results and would not waste money on operations and infrastructure required for long-term stability. Southwest is not the only airlines that needs board members that care about airline operations and LONG-TERM viability. The longer you postpone needed investment in systems and infrastructure the more expensive it gets. They got their large quarterly bonuses! Then demanded that employees work mandatory overtime.

This is squarely an Executive problem. The Board of Directoras should hold the executive team accountable and give out walking papers. They have known for years that their scheduling system cannot be recovered easily, as they are not hub and spoke. They have never been willing to invest in the raw computing power and software to dynamically recover their schedule. Second was the idea employees would accept the overtime or else approach they took. Rather than cancel future flights likes all their competitors. They thought they would keep most their schedule intact with the work overtime or else approach. I cannot wait to see the unrest the unios are going to cause because of the way Executives treated employees.

The majority of their fleet stops a couple times a day at airports in the path of the storm. They cannot easily use replacement aircraft as they are not hub and spoke. One aircraft will fly through several cities, not out to Nashville and back. They need a serious computer to do same day rescheduling if they have more than a few issues. There are lots of moving parts, aircraft, pilots, flight attendants, ground crew, and contracted airport access hours. The parts all move independently and most alight for the passenger flight to take place. It did not help that Southwest Executives got very authoritian, mandating overtime for everyone or they get fired. I lot of employees, especially ground staff, walked off the job. While the majority ignored the mandate to report for unscheduled overtime with 12 hour or longer days. This is squarely an Executive problem. The BOD should hold them accountable and give out walking papers. They have known for years that their schedu

More like Boeing does not want to add a feature to their planes that customers are not willing to pay for. If United, Southwest, Delta, etc. said to include this feature and retrofit it to existing planes, here is the money to do it, Boeing would get it done.

Airlinerwatch.com is a serious security concern. It is loaded with tracking and spying up to tracking every mouse movement. Its sole purpose is to sell you data. Has nothing to do with advertising. It is a site that heavily spies on users. It is on most blacklists for a reason.

All about the airport making money. Getting more people to the overpriced eateries and bars. I am sure the airport gets a percentage of sales.

Not a problem tell them! Boeing says there is a problem and works with customers to fix it. They have a new paint and bonding agent that correct the issue by weaking with UV light. Airbus is the one saying it is not their problem and Qatar needs to find a fix on their own. Airbus has said that the planes should not sit in the sun in that hot abusive environment when not in use. They were not designed to take that abuse. For the record Boeing fixed this problem in production years ago. This Jet start is an old one approaching it heave check and repaint. The budget airline is not painting them out of cycle to fix the pealing problem, speed tape is cheaper.

I do not understand this - bend every rule in the book to meet an arbitrary date for certification or do it correctly taking the time it needs to be done correctly too sure it is safe. The logic is easy. But this is not about using logic or public safety, it is about screwing Boeing because they did not contribute to the correct politicians and support union jobs above all. Next capitol hill will scream when many more jobs are lost as Airbus becomes the go to provider.
