Boeing 757-200 (N674DL)
Delta's N674DL, a B752, gets an early-morning "sunrise" bath to remove a thin layer of ice before continuing to push from gate B10 at Reno Tahoe International to start a flight from Reno to Atlanta. N674DL, operating as DL Flight 222, was the inaugural aircraft for new direct-flight service between northern Nevada and the great airport in Atlanta. There was a 6 AM celebration at the gate. The event was held for three reasons: 1) this flight marked the fifth launch of new direct route service at KRNO within the past eight months, 2) it marked the "return" of regularly-scheduled B757 equipment passenger service to Reno (see note below), and 3) it celebrated the restarting of a RNO-ATL route that was discontinued many years ago. It was exciting to be at the gate to photograph the activities there. And the next new route service launch is less than three weeks away ... Southwest inaugurates direct flight service to Dallas (Love), and I'm looking forward to that party too.
(Clarification note ... Both FDX and UPS use B752 aircraft here daily. Also, there have been occasional visits by DAL 752s as military charters and by UA 752s as last minute equipment replacements, but this flight marks the return of regularly-scheduled B757 passenger flights. It has been a long time since airline execs have felt this area will routinely fill the seats of a 757, so seeing this paxbird back at a Concourse B gate is excellent news for northern Nevada.)
Comments
Next ... Food and fun across the concourse at Southwest the first week of January. (Thumbs Up)
