I first thought this a duplicate squawk- but it's from a different perspective. The C-160's last flight certainly demonstrated the its rough-field capability! Now, if we can just get some pics by the spotters under the starboard engine......

I gots a stupid question? How come we get all the SQUAWKS posted here that say Duplicate squawk, yet I went to post one last week and it told me that "This URL has already been posted" or something to that effect. How can somebody post a duplicate?

You have asked a good question, but unfortunatly, since it was the planes last flight and there was no crash, they said it would not be investigated, hence we won't know.

The fact that this was the plan´s flight does not mean the pilot wass home free for Luftwafe should have conducted an investigation.

They probably should have but according to the article but it said they were not going to. I guess since it was an IPBAR landing as Toby says here below, they just decided to let well enough alone.lol

It all depends on WHO the pilot is. Policics is not limited to the home country. Last flight or not, you and I probably would be investigated. His first name is probably proceeded by a title like Baron, at least. The pilot is lucky the left landing gear stayed in place. Looks like he dispaced a half a cubic yard of dirt before he hit the edge of the pavement and base of the roadway. Never flew the 160 but it must be one tough bird.

First, it was a she. Second: Never flew a C-160? I guess not, a private pilot with a single eng rating and a dead medical

SHE could not see the end of the runway. Perhaps she was vertically challenged and could not see out the window.

Where did you see any reference to SHE. Article clearly states Captain Kirsch, and HE.

The captain's first name is Jasmin and the subtitle of the article said SHE couldn't see start of runway from HER cockpit.

Airplane doesn't care if a pilot is a "she", "he", or "other". It's all about flying. If she could not make out that runway, in that weather, she should have gone around. Darn it but I wish it hadn't been a "she".

I read the story and the author said "he", I think. Don't be fooled by German names.

It is confusing but he does say both in the article. If you reread and clseley he does settle on SHE and gives her full name

Wow, when I posted this a "duplicate" squawk a month ago, all you guys did was complain...

This shows why people never should be allowed to stand at the end of a runway. Bit like letting people standby in the run off on a regular racetrack. Great when nothing happens but what if.... At least no one hurt and they can't be allowed to complain, they should know better.

Just like living in an approach path. If something is going to happen, that's where it probably will. Just because the Airport don't own the property doesn't make it safe.

Well, there is a comment in the story about them being too close and the raised road as well. Seems some went past the barricades but nobody made them come back and whoop, der it wuz.

plans and in the time i got 51 difteen plans landing.you might like to see.

I also think there was a problem with the engines because:
1.Because it was the C-160's last flight there were some maintenance issues.
2. Or it could of been an engine failure as well.

I am really glad that those people weren't crushed by the landing gear>
