Dutch maintenance provider Samco has completed a C-Check on a Swiss Airbus A220.

The Maastricht-based MRO provider noted on Twitter that the aircraft visit was the “first ever C-check in the world” on the Pratt & Whitney PW1500G-powered twinjet, previously known as the Bombardier CSeries.

A photo indicates that the aircraft (HB-JBA) is the first A220-100 of the type's launch operator Swiss, delivered in 2016.

Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that the Lufthansa Group carrier has eight A220-100s, 20 of the larger -300 variant, and orders for another two -100s.

In 2016, Bombardier recruited Samco as its first authorised service centre for the twinjet family.

The MRO facility had previously taken a similar role for Q400 turboprop series.

Samco opened in 2018 a new, larger hangar at its site to accommodate the A220.

Airbus acquired the A220 programme in 2018.

Swiss could not be immediately reached for comment.
