Samsung is setting up Galaxy Note 7 exchange stations in airports
Turn in your exploding phone and get a new one before hopping on a flight. Samsung has officially cancelled the Galaxy Note 7 following its exploding battery scandal, but there are still plenty of people out there who need to exchange their phones. If you're planning to fly soon, that need got stronger a few days ago, when the US banned the phone from all flights. Hopefully it will keep people from trying to smuggle their banned devices onto a flight. I don't trust the TSA to confiscate all of them during screening.
And what would your solution be? If you don't have one then don't post.
On a lighter note: maybe there will a new product sold at the airport kiosks, A flame proof bag that you drop your phone into for transport and you get to keep it with you Lol.
How about this? I have a fire-resistant battery charging/storage bag for Lipo / Lithium Ion batteries used for RC models and drones. The same material could be used to make or line the seatback storage. That would be much quicker (and somewhat instinctive) for passengers to access in the event of a overheating device than calling a flight attendant and having him/her find a bag. It is considerably more expensive to equip every seat this way, but ultimately much safer than having one or two bags that are only accessible to the cabin crew.
Is the battery less likely to do a thermal runaway if it is separate from the phone?

So the AIRLINES are supposed to be responsible for the costs associated with attempting to protect themselves, their aircraft and their passengers from a dangerous device? On their own dime?
