Awesome photo. Is the nose art authentic?
Thank you! And authentic, perhaps, however not original, the plane underwent a massive restoration which included the nose art as it appears here. However I’m unsure if it looked like this prior to that restoration.
Very nice capture. I always liked this plane, much more than the B26 Widowmaker.
Love the A-26. Had the good fortune to catch a ride in one when a teen back in the late 60s while hanging out at the Confederate Airforce. One of the original "colonels" was piloting that day and he put it through it paces. The one we flew in had been converted for civil executive use and was very comfortable but still a "hot" aircraft. Ah to be young again. Great photo here and good to see one fully restored.
Great conversation to an executive transport with the nosegear and custom interior designs .

“Widowmaker” and The Incredible Prostitute” were two of the nicknames for Martin’s B-26. My dad worked on them in England and later France. I was a grown before he told me another favorite nickname, “The Baltimore Whore”.

The plane in the photo is the Douglas A-26. Built in Long Beach CA, she served in WWII, Korea and SE Asia. In 1948 it was re-designated the B-26, The Martin built B-26 of WWII fame was a completely different airframe.
During WWII several Martin B-26s were posted at MacDill Base in Tampa, Fl. which were quite difficult to fly and the accident rate was unacceptable as some of them ended in the sea upon take off and somebody coined the phrase "One a day in Tampa Bay".
