AN12 is the type designator
Is it true that the nose sight we see in many civilian Soviet-era aircraft was intended for a quick conversion to military use during the Cold War? Or is this an urban legend?
Gerhard Neufeld: This is a Belarus registered aircraft. Antonov is an Ukraine aircraft company with its HQ in Kyiv.
Jean-Yves Duplessis: Likely acquired in the Soviet days when they were all on big happy country. First flown in 1957.
