As all of your pictures: beautiful. Talk about the sound of the W R-1820 engine, why is it that a whole squadron of T-28s made up of say 12 elements do not match the deep strong throated and even intimidating sound of a single B-17. Yes, I know, the wings and to some extent the fuselage are diapason resonance boxes like in a piano but still, perhaps the turbochargers or exhaust manifolds are different or what. Thank you in advance for your comment.
Nice. C had the tailhook and prop blades were cut shorter than B, for carrier decks.
R-1830 on the B-17 had 7 bigger cylinders than the 9 on the 1820, both had superchargers. Probably the speed, B-17's cruise of 170 kts required lots of power, not very slick. T-28 cruise of 230 kts was easy half power. That B-17 noise hung over you longer.

THOUGHT THOSE 1820'S WERE DASH 85W VERSION
@jthyland thanks for your comment but I beg to disagree: all of the variants of the 1820 had 9 cylinders, regardless the aircraft to which they were bolted on, from the B-17 on down to the T-28. And my question still remains unanswered: why the B-17 has such a different sound than the T-28.
