The "V" denotes a Medevac configured aircraft which this photo doesn't seem to show. I agree with Mr. Kyzer, this is a UH-1H "Utility" configured aircraft. Either way, Love that aircraft. We've got bigger helicopters, we've got faster, but you would be hard pressed to convince me we've gotten better.
In all of 1968 I flew in this model and other with the First Cav Division many hours. Very nice aircraft
