Interesting that with the Beech 17,the stagger of the mainplanes puts the upper wing LE aft of the lower wing LE...but in the case of the de Havilland DH82, which was a few years earlier in aeronautical design, the opposite is the case!
Does anyone know the story of the Australian livery?
I can't add too much to the discussion, but the "nose art" flash says "Indian National Airways". That is from a photo I have of this aircraft from last year's Oshkosh show.

Indian national airlines was based in New Delhi India not Australia
Hence the VT- registration, Australia is VH
Today's planes may be faster and easier to maintain and certainly easier to climb into but there is nothing more beautiful than a Staggerwing!
I personally like the Spartan executives
