One of my all time favorite WWII fighters! But...isn't that a P51A, not P51C? I thought C's all had the bubble canopy.

P-51A's had the Allison engine with the little air scoop on top of the nose behind the spinner.
P-51 B's and C's are virtually identical with the Merlin engine, the B's were built in Inglewood CA and the C's were built in Dallas TX.
The Malcolm hood canopy you are referring to was a field modification done on some Mustangs.

Likewise, the P-51 D's and K's are also virtually identical, D's were built in CA and K's are from TX.

Great photo Brian!
Great photo of the aircraft flown by the Tuskegee Airmen. I had the rare privilege of having conversation with a former ground crew member of that elite squadron.
