BOEING 747-100 (N7470) - KBFI - This is where it all started for me...though several year earlier, This photo taken within 200yd or slightly to the left in the view - was where our house used to be...torn down for Interstate 5 construction pre June 1964(below out of view). I was old enough to watch the development of the Boeing 727 from this vantage point on our back porch looking the same direction. We could see 95% of the runway to the left, then blocked by trees. From the late 1950s till we move to California in June 1964 - I saw just about every type of jet built in the USA and used by the Military services. We did not see any super secret jets, though we did see 50s era Globe masters arriving at night and unloading tarped items or leaving after loading tarped items. All century Series jets, most airliners, B-17 and some B-29s, 1 B-58 Hustler...I'll never forget that take off...707s. KC-135s, B-47s, B-52s all propliners big and small and multiple aircraft emergencies with engines on fire ( usually Stratoliners, DC-6 or Convair 240s) diverted from SEA-TAC just over the hill top left of the photo with 30 Fire engines from all over south Seattle responding to every gate at BFI. The Boeing 727 was magnificent to watch as flight testing daily occurred here daily right up until we moved. I missed the 737 747 757/767 not being here but I'll never forget the early days at BFI, This photo taken apprx 1976 on my many trips back to Seattle to visit relatives,,,never complete without cruising BFI. and yes, I sure wish I had a camera back then, but that was a luxury item for us.

Howdy, T. Which direction are we looking here ... toward the west FROM where I-5 is now, or are we looking toward the east TOWARD where I-5 is now? I recall there are train tracks that run right next to I-5; from this viewpoint, are those tracks BEHIND the camera or is the camera view looking TOWARD where those tracks are today?
This shot gives a neat overview look. I see a Queen at center but I cannot ID those jets on the left or right. Man, I'd have LOVED living around here. It was 16 miles ... by bike ... for me to get to BUF from my home and in the summer I rode to BUF every Saturday and Sunday so by the end of each weekend I'd ridden 64 miles. I could only do that in the summer because that was when there was no school in session __ AND because that was when there was no snow in Buffalo (lol). However, living that far away had one big advantage .... I could ride to BUF on Saturday morning, take a Mohawk flight to another city or two, fly back to BUF, and ride home and no one ever knew I'd been on those Mohawk flights. Then, I'd do it again the next day.
The most frequent military metal at BUF were C-119 Flying Boxcars and MATS Connies. Capital Airlines used Connies at BUF too. Flying Tigers flew cargo into BUF so I saw their propliner equipment but I had already enlisted and been assigned overseas by the time FT started landing jets at BUF.

Gman the view is looking west. The Freeway is below the camera and yes, the railroad is below and used to have a lot more track in the 50-60s. The slide is a bit old and faded the other jets would be 737-200s, and I may have the wrong date on the description - Im going to re-try to view what is on the left of the DC-6/7. Thank you very much! TTYL
