Nothing like being able to get up close and personal and then linger without security hassles.
The finest aircraft ever built, in the most beautiful livery she ever adorned! I was privileged to fly aboard her over a dozen times on this exact livery in the late 70's and early 80's.
She was the safest, most comfortable, smoothest riding and most beautiful aircraft of all time IMO, and I miss seeing her up in the sky where she was so distinguishable from all the rest, plus NOTHING sounded like her when those RB211's spooled up and she roared down the runway!

Thanks for the Comps - agreed Gman, Delta 727s were my fave's - I have a vid on my YT page from SJC...Gavin and JD good comps.
What a beautiful aircraft.
merveilleux cette avion et aussi super impressionnant au décollage par sa puissance
I used to fly on these Delta beauties from LA to Atlanta twice a month from 1975 to 1982. I loved it. Business class. Lots of room, quiet, service was impeccable. Great, great great airline and airplane.
Probably saw you there in that parking lot. Miss being able to get that close.
Un avion confortable
Lockheed L1011, August 2, 1985 Delta Flt 191 FTL to DFW. Aircraft experienced loss of control due to a microburst, resulting in runway undershoot. 136 died. One of whom was my brother, Lawrence Monberg, Jr. RIP. That crash turned out to be one of the most important in aviation history. Much about microbursts was learned from this accident resulting in ground instrumentation and revised flight procedures.
Bror Monberg - very sorry to hear that you lost your brother, terrible.

Nice!
I taught the CAT3 auto-flight systems on that bird during my time with Lockheed Product Support. Nice bird, excellent avionics.
