Fed Ex's "Carina" is on the climb out of the shadows off 34L and headed for the sunshine that is just coming up over the Virginia Range Mountains east of the airport.

Daily double digit freighter traffic is uncommon for our small airport throughout most of the year but during the holiday season the number of flights coming and going each 24 hour period really increases so I always get out to do some spotting of the freightbirds in December. This was a busy morning for FDX and UPS traffic and I had an enjoyable 15 hours clicking pics at RNO.
Nice shot Gary and you captured the beacon. Well timed!
did this include the Snake hike?.....any Fed Ex MD-11s here this time of year? 767 looks like a calendar shot! x

Yo, T >>> I arrived while it was still dark (0430 hours). Temp was 16 F but no wind so wasn't cold (and besides, I had driven my car on to the apron so I was able to sit in it between a/c). Caught 6 UPS (Fifty Sevens and heavy Busses) and 4 FDX (Fifty Sevens and heavy Boeings), but no triholers. Also the regular RON paxbird departures. Shortly after I snapped this, the sun came over the mountains and was in my face so I left here and went over to The Snake. Stayed up there about 2 hours or so and then returned here and caught lots of traffic during late AM and early PM. Around 3 PM, more freighters began coming and going but again, just Fifty Sevens, Sixty Sevens, and Three Oh Sixes. Stayed into the evening (got a GREAT tour inside a brand new Gulfstream) and finally called it quits after 15 hours of clickin'.

U lucky. 15 hrs sounds like 5000 pics,,,LOL..great series... all 5 so far..
I have seen Carina in Appleton on a number of times.....
