Dwight- this is a rare bird- nice catch!
Indeed it is. I've never had an opportunity to snap one, and I hope I'll get one someday. Congrats on getting this click, Dwight.
Gary, do you recall seeing one of these Thunderjets with external under-wing fuel tanks mounted on permanent static display at Lackland AFB?
Some of you may already know this, but this plane is a F-84F Thunderstreak.
The earlier F-84E and G was the Thunderjet and had a straight wing and tail.
The F-84F had swept wings and tail and a enlarged fuselage to accommodate an engine with increased thrust and was pretty much a whole new plane.
The Air Force Thunderbirds flew the straight wing F-84G's from '53 to '55 and the swept wing F-84F '55 to '56.
Because of it's lack of take off performance, the F-84 Thunderjets were know as "The Hog" and the later F-84F's Thunderstreaks were "Super Hog".

Cool shot Dwight, I hope one day I will be able to catch one.
Dave, Gary, Cliff, Jim, and Mark TYVM!
Jim, thank you for the aircraft identification information!
Dave, Gary, and Mark, thank you for noting that this is rare to see. I thought it might be so, but I wasn't sure until your comments were made.

Dwight, you are welcome and thanks for the kind words. I used to see the RF-84F Thunderflash photo recon version often, flying from an ANG base nearby.
what a catch !! well done Sir
