Thank you for a very interesting shot!
I would like to know the history around the 787 in the background if possible?

Richard, it is the third 787 built, N787BX/ZA003. I have more shots to post of it. Unfortunately, they way the aircraft are parked underneath the pavilion, it makes it nearly impossible to get a good clean unobstructed side view of most of the aircraft underneath this canopy. There are two other 787's on display in museums that I am aware of. The prototype N787BA/ZA001 is on display in Nagoya Japan. The Pima Air Museum has the second built 787, N787EX/ZA002 in All Nippon Color's on display (Tucson AZ).
From Wikipedia:
c/n 1368 - A former Pan Am aircraft that was used by the Douglas historical foundation until the merger with Boeing in 1997. It is now housed at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington. This aircraft (N1934D) was restored to flying condition in 2007 and flown to Santa Maria, California for a new paint job. It received a TWA "The Lindbergh Line" livery and interior trim.

A gracious view of a grand old lady of the air. This is the stuff of legends.
Love the early swept wings.
I like the 747's "Eye Black."
