ROMAERO Islander (D-IOLK)
Take-off between the dunes. 06-13-21.
Britten-Norman BN2B-20 Islander.
The German airline OLT makes several daily flights from the mainland to the dune of Helgoland.
This small airport is built on sand and you have always a lot of seagulls sitting on the runways.
Comments
It has been a few decades, but I have fond memories of flying to Helgoland with my dad in a variety of light aircraft, then taking the small boats to ferry to the rock. Sea birds are one hazard, the short runways and (depending on the season) blowing sand are others.
@Thorsten: Helgoland ist always worth a trip.
The ferry to the rock (and the Whisky-shops) is always really small.
