Do the PA&SM folks allow inside access to any of their display a/c, Greg?

Not any of the aircraft outside. But there are a few indoor displays were you can poke your head in, e.g a B-29 and a B-17.
Thanks, Greg. After seeing your photos, I'm interested in going there. It won't be this year, but I can try for next. Is there a specific month (or a season of the year) that you would recommend?

Spring or fall, and winter can be cool but not too bad. DO NOT come in the summer!! Well, you can, but be prepared! Other than being very hot, we have monsoon season from mid-June to mid (or end)-September. My last visit was on 21 Apr, and it was in the high 80's to low 90's. The time before that was in mid-May. It was around 100+ and very sunny. I spent the whole day there and was pretty well beat at the end of the day. That's the other thing: don't be in a hurry. There is A LOT to see. They just added a new hangar about a year and a half ago and some new aircraft. Check their website to get a better idea. And you can take a virtual tour of (pretty much) the whole museum. I'll post a few shots of some of the indoor birds when I get a chance to give you an idea of what is there. Oh, and the KDMA boneyard is basically just across the street. You can drive by and see a lot of it, but the general public doesn't have access. BUT it is possible to take a tour of the boneyard. They are only on weekdays, and you have to get there early, etc., etc. Check the PASM website again for details. Oh, and there is a Titan Missile Museum just south of Tucson in Green Valley. I haven't been to it, but I hear it is pretty nice. In any case, you might want to get down here sometime. Let me know ahead of time, and I'll try to show you around as best I can. Take care!

I love the way the nose gear leg is canted forward on the Connie...the Star of Switzerland sure looks good to me!

The front gear is interesting since it is so long and canted forward. The gear has to be pretty tall to provide clearance for the props. And I think since the fuselage tapers at the front it necessitates the front gear being even taller/longer. In any case, it is different. Thanks, Chris!
Greg ... Greatly appreciate the info. The trip there is on the calendar for 2019 (aiming for spring). Even my better half has "green lighted" the idea so I've already researched a t/share location I can get. It's a large-style condo so I can invite anyone to join me and four-day lodging will be free for me/us. Four days allows at least two days (probably three) in order to go to the museum AND the boneyard. Will keep you informed. And also, Thanx for the offer to meet up. I'd enjoy that very much.

That's sounds pretty good, Gary! Let me know and we'll see what we can do!
