This 1985 Learjet Model 35A (N880Z) crashed into a residential neighborhood Dec. 27, 2021 at approximately 1914 local time while turning onto final approach to Runway 27R at Gillespie Field, El Cajon, CA. The aircraft was destroyed by the post-crash fire. The flight originated from John Wayne Airport, Santa Ana, CA and was attempting a VFR circling approach in poor weather with reduced visibility in rain and mist and a low overcast ceiling. 2 crew and 2 passengers were killed in the crash.
